July 4 1999 (Our anniversary) : After an awesome sleep with the fresh mountain air coming in through the open patio doors we get up and prepare for our day. Included in the price of our room was a continental breakfast, which was a smorge. Scrambled eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, sausages, juice and coffee. Sound good?
Shopping. That's most of our morning. We pick up a few souvenirs and a park pass then head to the Jasper Park Lodge for lunch and horseback riding. If you have never been here, I would suggest you check it out. What an incredible place. The view is awesome and the staff is almost too polite. The food, while pricey, was great.
These are pictures of and around Jasper Park Lodge. JPL is a very posh and expensive resort in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. It has a Golf Club and tons of cabins. What an incredible place.
The trail ride we went on was great. A little too short, only about an hour, but I have never ridden a horse in the mountains before. It was a blast. We both enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately we were not allowed to bring cameras on the ride. They might have spooked the horses. I didn't quite understand that one but whatever. I would have loved to get some pictures of us on horses. I did however get pictures of the horses! That will have to do.
These horses are trained to follow each other nose to tail. They seldom move faster than a walk and are very easy to handle, even for the novices like us. It was a great ride.
